Condoms Sizes - How Do I Choose?

Using condoms any time you have sexual intercourse is the most effective contraceptive method, as unprotected sexual contacts risk lives by afflicting sexually transmitted diseases such as HIV infection and unplanned pregnancy.

Sexually transmitted diseases can affect people of all economic levels and backgrounds. Every year, nearly nineteen million cases of sexually transmitted diseases are reported in the United States alone!

Half of the cases of sexually transmitted diseases involve young people below the age of twenty five. The more sexually active the person is, the higher the risk is. Every person should get STD checkups as frequently as possible, after they turn into adolescents.

The sexually transmitted diseases are : Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome or AIDS, Human Papillomaviruses or HPVs, Chlamydia, Pelvic Inflammatory Disease or PID, Gonorrhea, Genital Herpes, Syphilis, Genital Warts and Pubic Lice.

The symptoms of sexually transmitted diseases take time to surface, some of them are even symptomless and can be confused with other diseases. Sexually transmitted diseases in females can harm the fallopian tubes and uterus, leading to inflammatory disease, which can cause ectopic pregnancy, infertility and cervical cancer.  If a female gets a sexually transmitted disease during her pregnancy, the disease can pass onto her child. Sometimes the newborn’s infections can be treated successfully, but at other times, the child can be disabled for life or die.

Unplanned Pregnancy - Most unwanted pregnancy cases are adolescent pregnancies, a major consequence of teenagers unprotected sexual activities, other than STDs. This issue has affected youth, families, educators, health care professionals, and government officials. Some studies on high school students had concluded that one fourth of them had sexual contact by age of fifteen, and ninety nine percent of the teen pregnancies were unwanted. More than nine hundred thousand teenagers are reported to have become pregnant every year in the United States!

There are many medical risks associated with teen pregnancies. Adolescents who are less than seventeen years are at a greater risk of developing medical complications, when compared to adult females. The risk is even more in teenagers below seventeen. Adolescents must be thoroughly informed on these issues even if they say they know it all.  Parents should talk honestly and calmly about safe sex, STDs, birth control methods, or having sex because of peer pressure. Not only teens, all sexually active people should learn all about condoms, condoms sizes, condoms brands, etc.
